Went to Furrs on 151 today for a late lunch. I've been to Furrs in other cities but it's been a while. I expected it to be like Lubbys- cafeteria style. It's a buffet like Golden Corral but MUCH better. I tried to sample a little of everything and waddled out the door as I left. I could spend the day at the salad bar. Everything I tried was good to great. The price was $7.99 for the lunch menu. They have steak for those that like steak, fish, salmon, liver, fried chicken, meatloaf, cod, all of the kinds of potatoes, most any vegetable you can think of including spinach. I didn't try the desert bar as I could hardly move anyway. If you like buffets, you'll LOVE the Furrs on 151.

How sad...that place use to be "THE" mom and pop for Italian food when Ralph was alive...died a few years ago and his son took over the cooking....

Lupe Tortilla - our new favorite place. It's at the HEB plus on 281 and Evans. It's a chain, but a smaller chain. So far we've been very happy with their food and love the patio on gorgeous Spring days!

Portions are great, prices are little higher than I think most people are used to for Mexican food (like Chuy's etc.)

For example - Fajitas - which feed 2-3 (and we always take some home) are about $40. The Fajitas Gradioso which has chicken, beef and bacon wrapped shrimp are about $45. (I think...)

Chicken entrees are around $14. Appetizers are $9. Portions are good though!

Should have gone to Taco Taco but was doing a business gig and didn't know if the visitor could handle less than yuppie ambience. Wasn't my choice.
Urban Taco is one of my favorite places. Ambiance is much more upscale than your average taqueria and they have very creative salsas and guacamoles. Despite the "yuppie" tweaks to their food, most are more authentic than their Tex-Mex counterparts. This is the kind of upscale taqueria you would find in Mexico City.
