Decided to check out the De Zavala location and while Mr Cod tries hard and the folks there very friendly; their fish is too "mushy" and flavorless to tempt me back. It was deserted when I got there, but eventually an older couple came in and ate. The gentleman was speaking to one of the employees in what I thought was European Spanish (the variety spoken in Spain).

Honestly, I should have hit the British Tea Room on Bandera Road, it wasn't too bad as far as I can remember. One of the many Lion & Rose pubs is also an option, I had lunch at one a couple of weeks back and it wasn't too bad; but the main problem with those places are they have 51% signage as they are technically a bar, meaning individuals such as myself have some preparations we must take care of before entering the establishment.

Cheers! M2

Wow, had Long John Silver's thick-cut cod basket for lunch and it was pretty good! Not the same as UK fish & chips, but much better than the piece of cod I got from Mr Cod the other day. The fries were pretty good as well (yet again, not authentic British) and I preferred the coleslaw to the salad Mr Cod offered. And this was at the A&W/LJS restaurant just up on De Zavala and IH-10, not far from Mr Cod. I'd drive the extra mile and eat there instead...

Cheers! M2

By the way, Long John Silvers didn't have any malt vinegar, next time I'm bringing my own!

And, since it was mentioned earlier in this thread (by me! ), Long John Silver's thick-cut cod basket was a limited promotion offer and not permanently on their menu.

In other words, when I went back a few weeks later to order it again, they were no longer offering it!

Cheers! M2
