Thinking about heading there after work today.

I have horrible shin splints from my worn out Ascics.

I used to have horrible shin problems and then I switched to the Gel Kayanos. I been through 4 pairs, and this pair wore down unevenly. I want to switch it up to another shoe.

I know Athlete's foot is supposed to have a pretty advanced fit system.

Has anyone been to the one on 1604? Are they helpful?

Their stone oak store is small, however, the service and knowledge is fantastic. This is no big box store..which means better customer service. I bought a pair of shoes and have been very happy so far.

Their website is: theathletesfoot-sa.com

Thanks Texas Nick,
I'm more concerned about the knowledge as I've had so many foot and lower leg issues. I bought my current shoe from another store in town and have not been happy with them. Like I said, I've worn this shoe for awhile, but last time I went in I felt the shoe had changed. They talked me into buying a larger size then I'd ever worn before, talking to me like I was an idiot for buying the size I'd owned. I wore them to the gym and my feet were literally coming out of them.

I exchanged them for a smaller pair, but they are too wide or something and I have lace them so tight.

Anyway, this particular shoe store wasn't very helpful or knowledgable in my opinion.

I'm also thinking about Fleet Feet.

Who did you end up talking to? The manager? He's the knowledgeable one.

What brands of running shoes do you recommend for my narrow feet?

Texas Nick,

I actually think I did talk to the manager when I brought the shoes in to exchange (not The Athlete's Foot, another store).

It was partly my fault because I started out telling them how loyal I was to the Gel Kayano shoes. I actually had a hard time finding them because they don't always sell shoes that highly priced ($145) at Academy and other stores. I went to this store specifically because they carried them. I think I was so firm about loving these shoes that they just decided to put me back into them.

I don't know if my gait changed or the shoe changed. They used to wear completely even on the bottom of my foot. The black sole is worn completely on the inside, with the white frame of the shoe starting to wear... and almost no wear on the outside of my shoes.

Definetly time for new shoes. But since my old stead-fast staple shoes no longer work, i'm lost!

Oh, so did you go to Athlete's Foot or not yet? Sorry, I'm confused.

Wish I knew more about shoes and feet.

TexasNick,

No, I hadn't been to Athlete's Foot yet when I posted this. I wasn't very happy with the store I bought my last shoes at and so I thought I'd try a new place, like Athlete's Foot.

I ended up going to Fleet Feet. FANTASTIC!
I highly recommend this store. They were very knowledgeable and patient.

Fleet Feet is excellent. Also try Run Wild in the Pearl Brewery Complex.

My wife goes to Run Gear Run on the corner of 1604 and Stone Oak. She's an avid runner and likes their selection.
