Are you sure, because I get High School football (below amateur sport) pushed down my throat almost everyday by all the TV stations in San Antonio.

Add to that, ESPN pushing Little League World Series (way below amateur sport) down our throats.

Wasn't MLB's Florida Marlins on the list to move to San Antonio before they decided to stay in Miami?

Umm, there may be more people in the city limits of SA than the city limits of Dallas but the metro population of Dallas, not to mention DFW, is way larger than metro SA.

Yes, there was talk of moving the Marlins here a couple of years ago but the deal was scrapped in the end. The main reason was the fact that Miami has a much larger metropolitan area than San Antonio. This is less likely the case now some years later but I contend that San Antonio stands a better chance of landing an NFL team than a MLB team in the near term.

Yep. DFW is about three times the size of San Antonio's metro (Houston's metro is also).

San Antonio should not be compared with places like Houston or Dallas because of the tremendous size disparity in metropolitan areas. Instead San Antonio should be compared with cities like Nashville, Charlotte, Cincinnati or Kansas City. These areas are of similar and proportionate size to the San Antonio area and as such offer more fair comparisons when judging the size and features of the various communities.

Charlotte ans especially Nashville are quite a ways down the list from SA (although if you were limiting your list to NFL markets, then that's about right, although I would also add Cleveland.)

Metros within 250,000 population of SA:

23 Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro, OR-WA - 2,241,841
24 Cincinnati-Middletown, OH-KY-IN - 2,171,896
25 Sacramento–Arden-Arcade–Roseville, CA - 2,127,355
26 Cleveland-Elyria-Mentor, OH MSA - 2,091,286
27 Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, FL - 2,082,421
28 San Antonio-New Braunfels, TX MSA - 2,072,128
29 Kansas City, MO-KS MSA - 2,067,585
30 Las Vegas-Paradise, NV MSA - 1,902,834
31 San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, CA MSA - 1,839,700

BTW, given SA's growth compared with those above us, I predict we'll be #26 or even #25 within the next few years.
