Just to get this in before the lock/merge.

I think what we need to do is support the Roadrunners new team as a city. We can't be apathetic towards the team. It should be embraced as SA's team so that no only does it advance to better divisions faster but shows off our love for football to the NFL and any team that is thinking of relocating.

STL is a very small city with only the arch being remotely close to a high rise. Havin been in SA (and finally getting to move back for good in Feb), & having lived just outside STL, it is very easy to see how much bigger SA is. STL is more of a metro-area thing than a good-sized city.
I wish LA would have a team as well, but they seem so dead set against it.
I lived in Belleville too for 7 years. Left in 2006. The metro of St. Louis is closer to 3,000,000 which includes 300,000 from Illinois and also 200,000 from St. Charles County. Might be closer to 3.2 million.

That said, we paid for the Alamo Dome with hopes of Red bringing in a franchise. Never happened. Better get it in a firm contract before we make any changes.

He's comment about St. Louis is extremely ignorant.
"The city of St. Louis" is just "downtown St. Louis"

St. Louis is made up of more than 100 cities.
Just in St. Louis county, there's 92 cities

St. Louis has 2.84 million people, LAst year they grew by a little over 11,000.

San Antonio has 2.1 million. Last year San Antonio grew by 46,500. So we are smaller growing four times as fast.

Let us remember to include the word metro when discussing metro populations. A lot of people might get the wrong impression or confused when you say San Antonio has 2.1 million people.

As for the metro population, SA will probably surpass STL in about 15-20 years.

Hell yeah! The problem ain't with the football teams, its with the politician's who start using $'s from said profits before they even come in. Football MAKES money for cities that have politicians that don't spend it with projected spending practices. The San Antonio Jaguars (colors and all) sound very San Antonian.

You are right - SA has far more future than StL in growth. I think Austin would attract a lot of people into an SA NFL team's fan base. Austin is no farther than the outer reaches of the St. Louis Metro Area (when taking into account it's population count). Having made that statement, I hold to my original claim that SA (and it's metro area) is a bigger market/population than St. Louis's or Jacksonville's.
