I don't trust HL or Michaels with higher-value items of mine and have always gone to JR Mooney Gallery on Broadway: Their over 50-year reputation speaks for itself and they have their framing work everywhere in the world... Including The Louvre and Vatican.

Might I also suggest going with 'museum glass' on your piece. It'll save it from light/sun fading and provides a nice non-glare finish.

Museum glass is the same as non-glare, am I correct?

No. Museum-glass usually has the highest level of UV protection available while also providing a light matte finish. Non-glare glass is always available (and usually cheaper in cost).

Welcome to Greenhouse Gallery of Fine Art

Greenhouse Gallery is good for nice pictures, on the upscale side, also I was thinking of

Sigoloff Frame & Art
8222 Broadway St, San Antonio, TX 78209
(210) 824-7974

but couldn't make their website work, so I don't know if they are still available, but they have been around forever.

I don't know if you have already taken your art for framing. If you haven't, I must mention that there is a very good framer off of NW Military by the name of Kirk Youngblood. They have done exceptional work for me and I have been extremely pleased. Best of luck.

I haven't taken in any art yet to be framed, this weekend is too hectic to get anything done --- probably next Tuesday or Wednesday, before I go to Houston for training. I'll try to Google the name Kirk Youngblood.

I am sorry for mistakenly stating his first name as Kirk. It is KURT Youngblood. His number is : 342-1111.

Now that I think of it I think I passed by Youngblood's place somewhere along NW Military. Maybe West avenue. I can't remember. Anyway thanks for the correction.

Default Yes, I know a great place!

Exclusive Framing Gallery, their number is 492-9137.

Please tell them (husband and wife) that Michele with Mona Vie sent you. They also sell dog food because they have show dogs and I get that there. They have a git store/framing shop, but what I have seen them do is awesome and professional.

Thanks.

Yes, collected woodblocks when we lived in Japan...love them.

I selected a very slim black metal frame with a doubled edged dark green acid free mat and the museum quality glass over it to protect. Majority of my treasures were purchased at Kandas...I sure miss that place (and I bet they miss me...I had a print or two on lawaway continuously for at least 11 of the 14 yrs I lived there).
