I am from San Antonio and lived here most of my life. Lived in the ME (Abu Dhabi and Al Ain) many years ago and learned to speak and read the Gulf dialect.

It was an incredible experience for me and still miss it so much. The people are wonderful and I have to say that I was treated more graciously there than anywhere else in the world that I have lived or visited.

I think that you would be welcomed. We should never judge where one is from because you would be shocked just be understanding of their culture. We have to be careful everyone wants to have their regleion and cultural respected what if you are Latino and everyone said you are from Mexico or African American and everyone said you were from Africa or Caucasian and everyone thought you were from Europe. When in fact we all come from different backgrounds with different beliefs. You are most certainly WELCOME!!! Understand that everyone will not accept you because unfortunally that is how life is but look at it like this as I tell my family "They are the one’s with the problem not you!" Stay positive and friendly and you will meet many from many backgrounds. Welcome to You!!!!!

My son likes Shisha on Babcock and Eckhert. Also, I've heard Cool Cafe is really good, although I don't know if they do Shawarma.

I live in Riyadh KSA and I can understand about shawarmas, maybe Lebanese should open Kabbabji in SAT they are the best, why don't you make them, you need tahina and the garlic sauce with pita bread. I do not know how I am answering to.

I was looking for a place to stay in SAT because I am moving to work there, was browsing through apartments and now I am writing and posting to a thread where the whole world will get to read.

Default Incredible Shawerma

Shawermas (really good Shawermas like the kind I had in Lebanon) are available at the Middle Eastern restaurant in the same shopping center complex where Ali Baba is located (Wurzbach). They also have the "big bread" that I understand was once made by the villagers in Lebanon (if I remember correctly), and they mix a little zatar and zait to dip it in (it's delicious - - hot and fresh). I think the restaurant (more like a cafe) is called Pasha.

On my last visit, I noticed a sign announcing the opening of another Middle Eastern restaurant in the same complex, but this one has Belly Dancing (which is artistic and beautiful).

When I miss Lebanon (often), I go to my "Little Lebanon" on Wurzbach.
