It's a possibility that I may be moving to San Antonio (job transfer to the south side of the city).
I seen that there are many lakes in the area, but can't find much info on boating or info on what lakes are the best to buy homes on that you can have your own dock.
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this?
Thanks so much in advance!

I'm certainly not an expert, but Medina Lake and Canyon Lake both seem to be popular. I've been to both and had a good time.

If you're going to be on the south side of town, Calaveras Lake might be in your area, but I've never been so I'm not sure if there's a lot of recreational boating.

Calaveras and Braunig lakes are both on the south end of town. They are both owned by the local power providers. They are actually big radiators that cool the power plants. Recreational boating is allowed more on Calaveras than Braunig. Both are popular with boating fishing enthusiasts. You cannot own property or live on either one. Calaveras and Braunig or constant level lakes. There are many other lakes in the area but right now they are all pretty low due to the drought. I think Canyon lake is being used to supply water to Bulverde Texas which contributes to it's sinking level at times such as these. And it will only get worse. Too many people and not enough water.

We take our jet ski out to Medina lake. Lots of houses out there have private docks, they just aren't in the water most of the time! Sorry...

We go to the county park to launch and there is plenty of water still to play in but you do have to know where to go and be careful.

Default Thanks

Humm, I was afraid of that. All the research that I have been doing looks like the water levels are down and I don't see much lakefront property, only "lakeview".

Thanks for the feedback!
