Back to the topic at hand, to the Hartmans, the City of San Antonio, Bexar County and everyone else who had a hand in on this! It is just another reminder of what a great place San Antonio is, thanks to people and organizations like these! This made my day!

Cheers! M2

Just wanted to keep this topic on the top of the forum. It still amazes me that there isnt any other place like this. Kids/people with special needs are nothing new.

Three tidbits from the MySA article at the link below:

Grand opening will be April 10. Visitors can't just show up, they'll have to make a reservation on the web site to schedule a visit. There are discussions about making the park available to wounded warriors, since it's so close to the facilities at BAMC.

The way I understand it is that if you are disabled...no matter what...you get in free, child, adult, senior citizen whatever. So if you're a disabled vet you are able to get in.

I hope that is free for vets, it's the least that we could do for them

This is a theme park for disabled children. It took countless hours of volunteers and donations to even get to this point. I am all for vets getting the respect to which they are entitled, but I do not expect this park to let anyone in for free, unless they are able to reimburse themselves through a federal or state grant. It is going to be hard enough to keep open as it is. They don't even have as many employees as they do volunteers right now.
