According to my brother-In Law who was driving by in that area today, he said that there was a coming soon sign that said Zios Italian Restaurant is coming. Woo Hoo!! I've been waiting for one of these on the NE side for years. Now that I even live further in Cibolo, we don't have to travel all the way to 281 and 1604 just to go there. I know there is a separate thread for something like this but I wanted this to get attention on its own for other happy people like me that like this place.

Cool deal - my parents are still in that part of town so that'll be a nice option when we visit. We had the Zio's on 10 cater our wedding in 06 and it was absolutely fantastic.

Either way, I'm sure this'll be good news for my family near there.

So an Olive Garden and a Zio's springing up in that side of town?

The only Italian place on the NE side that I know of is Papa Dante's in Converse.

Zio's on the NE side of town will be awesome! I assume they will have to expand the footprint of the old Village Inn building a little. If so, it will take some time before they open.

While we've been going to Dante's for over 20 years and love it... there is the Olive Garden on Walzem and Macaroni Grill in the Forum. So there are a couple alternatives at least. I was not aware of another Olive Garden in that area going in though.

I'm not sure, but I think an Olive Garden is slated across the highway from the Forum near Burlington Coat Factory, etc. Seems like folks either love or hate OG - unfortunately, I'm in the latter category...

As many of you probably know from previous posts/rants, I'm NOT a fan of the chain restaurants. However, if for some reason I were forced, at gunpoint, to choose between Zios and Olive Garden, I would choose Olive Garden. Every time I've eaten at Zios, the pasta is watery - it's disgusting, A, and B, it waters down the sauce. Ick, ick, ick.

It's almost way too expensive anymore. It's probably been 8-10 years or so, but the entire menu used to be more than half the price it is now. The big monstrous whole sandwiches were $7-$8. Now they are $15-17 I believe. Everything else has gone up similarly. It used to be well under $30 for my parents and I to eat there growing up, then they ramped up the prices all of a sudden and it can easily cost $50-60 if not more for the 3 of us.

That said, the food is still as good as always.

12 in. subs range from $8 to $13 at Dante's.
6 in. subs range from $5-$7.
