What companies are hiring right now in town? Lets make this about jobs that are more than fast food joints but rather about more substantial employment.

Thanks for the info. You had a couple on there that I had not thought of. As for a general job posting site, I like www.indeed.com pretty good.

LovingSAT - Did The City of San Antonio lift it's hiring freeze?. I hope so. My dream job is to become a Code Compliance Officer after I retire from SAWS. (Just Kidding) That will be approx. 10 years from now. *I know they didn't freeze SAPD and SAFD.

SAWS is hiring -Great Pay, Benifits Two Retirement Programs (More if you would like), Vsion, Dental, Education Reimbursment, Military, Funeral, Jury Duty Paid Leave, etc. www.saws.org

Bexar County still has a Freeze.

TXDOT -You can design toll roads. Just kidding. I know several folks who work for TXDOT and they are pleased.

Christus Santa Rosa (Westover Hills)

Edward's Aquifer Authority

San Antonio River Authority

U.S. Department of Homeland Security (Border Patrol, Customs, several others here in SA)

Hill Country Hyatt

Various School District throughout San Antonio

I am not sure about the freeze like SA and Bexar but there are jobs that are being posted. The way I understood it is even though there is a "freeze" per se there are still people that leave and jobs that need to be filled, is that right?

Code Compliance... I promise I will follow all rules! Ha 10 years will be here in no time!

I am going to check SAWS, thanks!

I talked to a City of San Antonio Employee last week during lunch who informed me that although the City announced a hiring freeze they are still hiring but alot of justification is needed. Be sure and check out their website.
He also informed me that some Departments will be down sizing . Go Figure.

Visit some of the temp agencies. Many employers go through them directly to find employees. Don't phone them though because they will try to discourage you from coming in (thus causing them to "work"). You have to visit them personally and bring your resume with you.
