I'm moving to San Antonio soon, and need a decent neighborhood with good puclic transportation service. Any recommendations?

"Good" and "decent" are relative terms. What specifically are you looking for? Our local public bus service has a great website VIA Metropolitan Transit

There's bus service to all parts of San Antonio, for example Potranco @ 1604 has a bus about every hour that connects to other routes and a transit center. I'd consider any neighborhood in that area "decent" by far.

And...what part of town will you be working in? Or are you a student? If you're a student, which college/university will you be attending?

I'm not being nosy; I'm just trying to get a better idea of what you're looking for. We don't want you to end up with a two-hour bus commute.

Hi: I have been considering moving to SAT for awhile and have made a number of "exploratory" trips. Since my wife can't drive (and I don't like to) public transportation has been one of our big concerns. The bus system in SA has to be one of the best in the US. When you get here, go to one of the transfer stations and get a map of the overall system. Then, look at where you want to live, work, shop, have a doctor, etc.. You can probably find locations where there are numerous "overlaps" in service. With several bus routes available, you have more options. Finally, get on a bus that has a route of interest and familiarize yourself with the stops, apartments along the way, shopping, etc.. I think you will be pleasantly surprised!!

On the North, the Medical Center (plus there are a gazillion jobs in the Med Center area!) is extremely convenient as there is the # 92 and 91 Fredericksburg service buses from downtown all the way out to University hospital.

Same thing with the # 3 and 4 buses going from downtown all the way out to North Star Mall. Number 3 bus goes even farther across 281 north of the airport!
