SAN ANTONIO -- Former Spurs guard Tony Parker, a four-time NBA champion, told ESPN's The Undefeated that he is retiring after 18 seasons.

He reached the retirement age.

The average age for retirement is in the mid to late thirties for a star in the NBA. Around 34/35 is when the body may start to decline depending on the style of play and 40 is considered the final benchmark.

I've been a Spurs fan since 1991, Tony was the first Spur that I remember that was actually younger than I was albeit a year younger. Back when everyone was hyped up about the possibility of the Spurs getting Jason Kid, we instead got the real kid, a 19 year old point guard from France.

Good luck in retirement Tony, wish you would have finished it off as a Spur. We Spurs fans love ya!!!

Spurs, don't know anything about them but they are usually the lead story on the TV news and the stores around here have lots of Spurs coffee cups and such for $10+. And "Pop", what a character, maybe he will join the other 22 candidates for Pres !
