It's just like 1604. 1604 was the number of an FM road, FM 1604, then TXDot decided to turn it into a highway. TXDot was ready to change the number but because it became so familiar to residents they left it alone and it became Loop 1604, the only four-digit non FM road in Texas.

Using "south side" or "north side" is just something familiar to every native San Antonian.

Or as I lovingly refer to it "Low-Nine" What I hate about living in MP but having the 09 zip is that you always seem to get the 09 percent surcharge added to anything you need done to the house.
