I've lived most of my life around San Antonio but lived in Homestead, FL from 2005-2007. They're both hot. I don't know if I could tell the difference. Like other people have stated in FL it rains in the summer alot and you have hurricane season not to mention the ocean breeze. I'd recommend staying indoors most of the time or at least until the sun starts to set.

The hill country is very nice.

Well Houston and Corpus Christi are just about as hot and humid as South Florida in summer, but South Texas on the other hand gets brutally hott(The Rio Grande Valley usually scores the highest temperaure in winter, though most people think its Arizona)...here's some weather data.
Brownsville, TX:
Houston, TX:
Laredo, TX:
Tampa, FL:
Miami, FL:
Tuscon, AZ:

Laredo takes the cake in heat. try 110+ avg. during the summers, not factoring in the humidity. last summer we had like 30+ days with at least 100 degree temps.

I lived in St Petersburg from '79-'87 and have been here since '87. This place makes Florida seem like the Arctic Circle. I remember heat and humidity in FL but I lived on the water and it seemed like there was always a cool breeze.

I havent actually been to florida...but I can say that its hard to imagine heat much more oppressive than Texas heat...and its hard to imagine humidity much more oppressive than Houston's...Gracious it gets hot and humid in the summer in Houston, but Florida might get more humid...I cant fathom it getting as hot as Houston though.

I'm wondering how it is going to compare to Cen CA. We typically get about 2 weeks or so in the summer with temps in the 115+ range, but more typically the temps are about 100, give or take, from May until November. Then it gets pretty chilly (all things considered, I lived in Montana for 8 years, and it gets 20-40 below there), with lows in the upper 20's and low 30's. The humidity here isn't as bad as the midwest or DC area, but it isn't nearly as dry as the other western states, like CO, NV, MT, or desert areas of CA. It will be interesting to see what it is like.

As far as Florida goes, I've only been to Disney World in June, July, and September. September was by far the hottest, but the weather there wasn't too horrible. It's doable to be out in the heat all day if you stay hydrated. That's not to say that it isn't hot, because it is, but from what we have experienced it isnt horrible. Of course, you can get acclimated to the heat pretty quickly, anyway.

Moving from FL, a subtropical climate, to NM, a desert climate, everyone told me "Oh, it'll be easier in NM because there isn't so much moisture in the air, not as humid, you don't sweat as much,etc"...
NOT TRUE! I will take Florida any day! Dry heat makes your sinuses dry and cracked, even bloody sometimes. Higher elevation means you are closer to the sun, which means you can get a sunburn in about fifteen minutes. Triple digit temperatures, dry or not, are sweltering. Its the beginning of june and already insanely hot here, and I am still sweating.
At least in Florida it rains.

The heat inSan Antonio sucked. Combined with humidity, abundance of insects and allergans..it was flat-out terrible.
Starts to heat up in May...then not any real relief until late October. Send me a Direct Message if you would like some more (non sugar-coated) info regarding San Antonio.
