Non-compete clauses are usually in place once the contract is over. They are usually only in effect for a certain amount of time and then they expire.

Never heard of her but on the subject of radio personalities, I listen to 105.3 just because they have the least annoying radio personalities. Most of them are aimed at an either 12 year old audience or one that has an IQ of 70.

According to Jeanne's link here Jeanne Jakle: WOAI's fetching Kim Fischer leaving? (http://www.mysanantonio.com/entertainment/columnists/jeanne_jakle/Jeanne_Jakle_So_glad_to_have_met_Uncle_Walter.html - broken link)
>>>

Jakle says, "The sticking point is she's being afforded no opportunities to anchor — even on a fill-in basis. When contacted, Fischer wouldn't comment on her contract. However, she did confirm her desire to get anchor work. She also said she loved working in San Antonio."

IS KIM FISCHER OUT OF HER MIND? Does she think she is that "special" to be an anchor??? WHAT AN EGO!

What about veterans like Jessie Degollado who has been at KSAT 12 for more than 20 years? Do you see Jessie Degollado complaining that she doesn't get to anchor? NO!

Or what about Bianca Valenzuela (formerly of KSAT) and now with KABB....she's been in San Antonio for over 5 years (longer than Kim has been at WOAI)...I don't see her complaining about her contract not having an anchor position.

Go be an anchor somewhere else Kim. I'm glad WOAI stood their ground.

FYI - Bianca Valenzuela resigned from KABB a while back so she could devote her time to caring for her young child.

You could say the opposite about Kim Fischer. I say good for her trying to push herself up to the top and not settling for less.

To each their own.

Yes, most people who work in television news have egos. Large ones. Quality journalism and local TV news reporting rarely have anything common. To choose a career in TV news, instead of radio or print, is typically choosing self-aggrandizement over good journalism.

You clearly don't have a clue how the TV news business works. The reason Jessie Degollado is right where she's been for the last 20 years is because she doesn't have the looks to make it as a hottie anchor. However, she is a high-quality journalist and would have had many opportunities at national print, television or radio news outlets if she hadn't chosen to stay in her local market because of family. So 20 years later, she's still stuck in the same role with no hope of advancement because anchor jobs go to the hottie chicks who can read a teleprompter while real reporting is done by the real journalists.

I hear through the media grapevine that an announcement of her departure is coming and a going-away party is scheduled for this weekend.
