I've got a few things on my list that I'd prefer to buy in person. Problem is, I can't find a real store that has any kind of selection. Sooo...

Name me a store, whether it's here, Austin, or Houston, that sells pool table supplies and another that sells large model diecast cars, preferably specialty shops that keep a lot of inventory.

Pool table supplies.....it's on the corner of Bandera and Eckhert--across from Dickey's. The name escapes me at the moment, but they have pool (swimming) and billiard supplies. There is also one on 281--I wanna say Billiard Factory hang on.....nope, it's showing as a 1604 address. Maybe they moved--it's been a while.

No help on the diecast cars.

I work with a guy who collects diecast cars, I''ll ask him tomorrow if he knows of any. There are a few hobby shops in town, but they mostly cater to train or RC airplane enthusiasts.

You may also want to try:

Small World Hobbies Die Cast Cars Trains & More

Me, I collect diecast racing motorcycles and have yet to find anyplace around here that really sells them other than CycleGear. Normally I find them during my travels to Europe; but if you come across any sources locally please let me know!

Cheers! M2

Billiard Factory is on the north side of 1604 between Stone Oak Parkway and Blanco, next to El Papalote. I think that location has been open about a year.

Well, the guy I work with said he gets most of his models either online or at Toys R Us, WalMart, Target, etc. He also noted that it seems like those places are carrying less and less of a selection. I have noticed that at WalMart and figured it just had to do with the economy, but who knows what the real explanation is.

Occasionally, Walgreens will have a few models; HEB as well but they too are starting to carry less and less. I guess the market just isn't that big in SA...

Watson's on San Pedro @ McCarty might be good (just outside 410). (not sure if it has changed names from Watson's)
