Huh? I'm simply answering the OP's question. She/he asked for a town that's 20 minutes from SA that's rural. Floresville fits that and I simply corrected something you said which is that NB and Seguin are closer to SA when they're not. La Vernia is a 20 minute or less drive to SA.

Without address being entered (and being unbiased) Seguin is 36 miles away (and 41 minutes away) . New Braunfels is 37 miles away (37 minutes) and La Vernia is 24 miles (and 37 minutes) away. There's not a big difference, but you're right in saying La Vernia is closer...distance wise.

China Grove/Adkins area....same direction as La Vernia but really only 20-25 minutes from downtown SA (La Vernia is more like 40 minutes from downtown SA).

I live just past China Grove, my address showes out as San Antonio, but I am one mile from the Adkins post office. There are a lot of unicorporated areas like where I am that you could still have a SA address but not be paying city taxes and not be dealing with city issues.

This direction of town, namely s.e. (east, se, and south mostly), is better for traffic control. There are lots of nice areas in the other directions (north, northeast...) but that side of town is so built up that you have a lot of traffic coming into SA. So don't just look at mile for mile, becasue that is not an accurate indicator of how long it will take you in rush hour traffic,

without traffic, maybe.

I-35 is not often without traffic. I'd rather drive from La Vernia or Seguin than New Braunfels. Of course, depends where you're going. If you're working at 1604/35, then NB would be best. If you're downtown, I'd go with La Vernia - there's basically nothing along that road, so hardly any traffic.

Also, there's plently of places in far east SA like St. Hedwig that are rural in nature and very close to 410.

We don't know what to do.

All joking aside...I think La Vernia is right up the OP's alley. Floresville is another fine choice.

Add to that the traffic on I-35 (New Braunfels)

It's depend where do you want to live and what kind a country side you would like to enjoy, to the Northwest of San Antonio, there are the Hill Country and around Lake Medina we have several small town, such as Castroville, Mico, LakeHills, Pipe Creek, Bandera etc.., it's real pretty.

Since my last post got deleted because it wasn't helpful to some members I will try this again.

The way it is growing out that way it won't be "country" living for much longer. The traffic is getting very bad driving in to SA.
