You're doing it wrong. Please learn to read the signs, and your driver's handbook, and use the left lane for passing only.

Oh wait, preaching to the choir here.

All too often I'm in the left not only to pass but because I need to exit on the left side or an up coming on ramp to allow the on coming traffic to come on safely. Sure I'll get back over but there are way too many stupid people flying down the road in the left lane that feel they own this lane and can tailgate you, them...I don't move for. The handbook applies to those people too, keep a safe distance between you and the driver in front of you, obey the posted max. speed limit and do not weave in and out of traffic.
I have a bigger issue with the drivers that when involved in a minor fender bender refuse to move their vehicles out of the roadway and off to the side to exchange information.

This is actually a law! Unfortunately, the police do not enforce this! What a hazard they create by parking their vehicles on a freeway! I AGREE!

I was in a fender bender on Hwy 90 and we moved our vehicles then called the police to get a report. The officer wouldn't make a report because we had moved the vehicles.

It would have caused a MAJOR traffic jam if we wouldn't have moved them. We were blocking both lanes of Hwy 90E out by Grossenbacher.

Sarahdsmom, I totally agree with you. There are other reasons to be in the left lane (sometimes). I think that everyone should just be considerate of their surroundings.

That's very odd. I was in an accident and moved mine, we had zero problems getting a report. Maybe it's a training issue with SAPD.

Gotta love the people that drive 10 under the speed limit on the left lane...
as soon as you try to pass them on the right side, they are doing 20 over the speed limit to keep you from passing

Once again, if we were to only use the left lane for passing then traffic would be unmanageable. While I agree it's the law, it is not enforced and people will continue to do it.

I asked this question to a leo one day and he confirmed yes it is a passing lane, but we do not write tickets for driving in the left lane.
