Goad Motor Co. It later became Riata Cadillac, then Cavender Cadillac, before moving to Cavender's former Oldsmobile facility on Broadway.

Smith Chevrolet. Smith was formerly located on Broadway just South of I-35.

It was Smith Chevrolet. Smith was one of the oldest dealers in the US. They were on Broadway for decades, then built a big dealership on I-10, and sold out.

Smith Chevrolet. Roy D. Smith sold it in about 2002 to a group from Houston who renamed it Freedom.

I remember that downtown dealership VERY well, having purchased an '85 Caprice from them in April of that year. It was across the street from Broadway dodge, and the truck store was next door.
They'd always have a corvette parked parallel to the street up in the showroom.
I think they moved out to IH-10 in about 1996, because the dealer stood empty for about 8 years before being demolished and a parking garage going up in it's place.
GREAT memories.

Gillespie was at Jones and Broadway. Tom Benson Chevrolet was just north of Herman Son's lodge on St Mary's. Jordan Ford was just north of Durango on St Mary's! Yep sad sight Broadway is at Jones even the locomotive was removed!

It was extremely hard to get any pricing information either on line or by phone from the San Antonio Chevrolet Dealer's. When I did get a price which was rare they still had their starting price too high.
Besides Gunn Honda (for our Son) my best buying experience was Smith Chevrolet, now Freedom. When I returned to Freedom I thought the same may hold true. I stressed on the phone and at the Dealership that I was shopping. I told them exactly what I wanted.....down to the color. When I arrived there was a 2011 Silverado Crew Cab out in front not an Extended Cab as I requested. The Salesman told me he thought I would look better in a Crew Cab?????? It gets better...Although it wasn't what I wanted he asked me to take it for a test drive. I thought we would head west on IH10. HELL NO I could only drive it in the parking lot.
I ended up buying at Wommack in Castroville, GREAT PRICE, NO PRESSURE, GREAT PEOPLE, GREAT TRADE-IN.............
