I am looking for the best, most expensive, fancier neighborhood in San Antonio. We are moving from Chicago to San Antonio in few weeks and we are looking for the very best neighborhood there. We are thinking about buying a 800,000.00 -- 1'000,000.00 house. Please send me a list if the best 5 neighborhoods in SA. Thanks in advance.

Will not buy new in Terrell Hills or Olmos Park, maybe in Alamo Heights. Price range will buy resale in all three.

I don't mean to sound skeptical, but if you are seriously wanting to buy in that price range, why are you not finding a professional Realtor that will do the work for you.

Most everyone that posts here is happy to be helpful, but this is not a real estate agency. For serious prices like that, you need some serious professional advice...not just opinion from the peanut gallery. (no offense to SA Anthony or Willgar...they are some of our finest peanuts! ).

We do have a few regulars here that are Realtors that deal with homes in that price range. Kev Crawford is one of them. He would come highly recommended by a number of members here that know him personally and professionally.

Monte Vista homes are also rising above million dollar mark. There are not many new homes in the three mentioned neighborhoods, and that's why I love them. You can still get a nice home in Terrell Hills for under 800,000 - a bit more difficult in Olmos, even though Terrell is better located. Depends upon the size, of course. All three have smaller home sections. There's always Stone Oak, if you like suburban sprawl - that's more "new money".

I guess one thing I forgot to mention is we are looking for new costruction homes and I am guessing it will be hard to find that in the three neighborhood mentioned above.
