Pssh, if I was a 4-year-old in HEB overnight I'd be sitting in a pile of M&M's and Little Debbie Swiss cake roll wrappers. Hey, they were sitting right there.

Sadly, we saw soemthing similar at target yesterday. a little girl about 4 or 5 went up to my wife and said she was lost. She described her mom to us and this lady was no where in the area. My wife left the child with a store associate, but my wife was really bothered by this. She kept looking through the store for the mother, and was no where to be found. At least 20mins passed before we went to the check out lanes (Mind you the PA kept asking for the girls mother, & there was obviously no response). As we leave we see a women fitting the description with 5 other kids ask the security officer if they had seen a child leave the store. She did not even seem concerned. Just sad.

Another great news story coverage. Was the child even missed??? Was he reunited with the grandparents because they were looking for him and they called police? Did the child live nearby and leave the house and walk into HEB? Are the parents even in the picture? or did gpaw and gmaw have him dumped on them? WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS CHILD AND WHY IS THEIR FACE AND NAME NOT ON THE FRONT PAGE??? I'm so tired of these stories with no consequence to such sitations..... Find the guardians and get them to explain what happened!

Sadly, he may have been looking for m&m's for dinner!

Boy found in H-E-B back with family (http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local_news/Boy_found_in_H-E-B_back_with_family.html - broken link)

The boy was reported missing by his guardian, the grandfather. Where's the mother? Moderator cut: off topic

It would seem the kid snuck out to go get a soda. Like a side, children that age don't know any better.

If they're not sneaking out to get soda at 4 in the morning they're going on high speed chases with police because they don't want to go to church. lol

The point is....the child was not home in his bed at 4:30 in the morning, regardless of who is supposed to be watching him. Spare me the "oh, every child figures out how to escape BS." I am not buying that because it's a copout. Total copout. You should know where your four-year old kids are.

And I know that the part of the brain that controls the understanding of consequences and actions doesnt fully develop till youre like 25, but I still dont understand how a four yr old doesnt understand not to walk out the front door.

OK....given that this MAY have been an innocent situation, it seems that point that is disturbing is that the PARENTS aren't even mentioned. THAT is the sad part. Maybe the grandparents were negligent as the childs guardian, but it's possible that they just acquired their grandson and didn't have the right protections in place or even understood what he was capable of. He may have been a latch key child before moving in with g-pa....and latch key kids know early how to get around without mom or dad. And there we are again.....WHERE IS MOM OR DAD? That's the missing equation here.
