USAA reducing homeowners' insurance rates (http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local_news/USAA_reducing_homeowners_insurance_rates.html - broken link)

"...Most of USAA's 280,000-plus homeowner insurance policyholders in Texas should see their premiums decrease next year — some by double-digits — thanks to a new rate plan filed this week by the financial services giant..."

it's about time --- usaa has been high on homeowners premiums for a long time --- when i worked there that was a big complaint of members --- i have always had my homeowners ins with them because of loyalty and because of customer service, but when i was shopping for insurance for our new house this past september i noticed just how high usaa really is in the HO rates...

on the flip side of that USAA has really good auto premiums and all the other carriers i got qoutes from could not touch the auto premiums...

they jacked mine last year over 10% (no claims), so this "drop" if it comes will only bring it down closer to normal.

it still evens out to being very competitive. If you've got homeowners ins, then you get a break on your auto policy.

No matter what, the service of USAA > *

Same here. Mine went up (between last year and this year) about 25%. No claims, nothing.

They raised ours last year, so a reduction will be nice! I'm one of the few (apparently) who is not that impressed with their customer service, but my DH just loves them.

bout time I called them 2 years a go to get a quote on my home I just laughed at them for the price they quoted me at, not even close to the insurance I had at the time, called them like 6 months ago same thing. Guess they are finally gonna reduce the rates, will give them a call then thanks for the info.

Default A decrease will be nice

We are USAA members and have had insurance with them on our homes for many years. We just moved here to the area from the east coast and I was so surprised at how high my rates were for our home! Between property taxes and our homeowners insurance, we were in for a surprise when we moved here.
