Yeah, I'm not sure this one will work. That video was pretty slick, if also completely cheesy. Definitely not the kind of place I would go to, but there might be a market for it in this city if locals can be convinced to go. We'll see.

My guess is that they are trying to lure the 20-something hipster crowd, just like the martini bars are trying to lure them.

Does San Antonio have a big enough population of hip young things to make this work?

I'd check it out. Atleast it's not another ultra lounge.

Downtown couldn't support a strip club, which is far more popular (statistically speaking) than this type of "middle ground" show. It will never last.

The 'burlesque bar' trend died about a year ago: It was Los Angeles that started it with the PussyCat Dolls, moved it to Vegas and it exploded from there. While not smut by any means, it's a fad that's come and gone. Spending the money to custom-build something like The Blackstone would be, IMO, a waste of money.

Added, they'd need to find REAL dancers who can actually dance to a live brass/bass/drum line. Based on some of the more 'strippier' clubs I've been into here in San Antonio, that might prove somewhat difficult.

The burlesque club did die out about a year ago. perfect example is Ivan Kane's Forty Duece. It shut down in vegas, even with the normal vegas crowds. I like the idea, but this stuff is not going to fly in SA. There is no upscale crowd that goes DT. They are trying so hard to fix the image of Rivercenter. Rivercenter has become TRASH. A Thugs playground. It's not going to work.

Replace the small band with a small tejano group and replace the classy women with chunky hispanic girls that wear things they shouldn't and then you have an SA WINNER!

Every basic training class from Lackland will be there on town pass....GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Riverwalk was nothing impressive when I went after graduation back in the day. The Alamo is the WORST tourist trap ever.

What's a burlesque club? I thought those were from 100 years ago or something. Will they also be hosting a box social before the grand opening?

I bet it won't even open. That website is an appeal to investors. A GREAT idea usually has investors lined up pretty quickly.

The riverwalk (or SA in general) won't really support that. Locals don't often go to the river area, so it'll be difficult to get a regular clientele and tourists aren't here to see a burlesque show. IF it even opens, it'll be a major failure.
