I've been having back/knee pains, and my self diagnosis says that I have a tendancy to have an overpronation when walking.

Anyone know any good foot/shoe stores where I can get custom soles/cushions made?

I have not tried it so can't say how well they work or don't work. BUT they have those new Dr. Scholls machines in Walmart that you stand on & it does some sort of analysis of your feet & then tells you what corrective inserts to get. The inserts are right there on the stand with the machine. Might be a less expensive way to start then going with the whole custom shoe idea?

i've looked at those, and used the machine. Those are quite a price to pay for something that isn't "custom", but more of customized for a "group of people", not an individual. I'd rather pay the full amount for the real thing, rather than spend the money and not be satisfied. I do appreciate the response however.

Unless anyone can chime in with their own personal experience with these Dr. Scholl's inserts....

I dunno. A nice size 13 might just do the trick.

There used to be a store that made the insoles with a doctor prescription of sorts, it was on San Pedro near Batter up.

I had the heel spurs and would buy the coushions that were sold at Walgreens, not gel but coushion with a hole in the middle. Never went barefoot and after about a year of very careful attention to the shoes I wore the problem was cured.

Not sure how it would help the knees but I was impressed with how it improved my feet.

BTW - I also went to a reflexologist and he did wonders too.. highly recommended.
