I have these very small winged flying insects in my home and I don't know what they are. I finally found where they were coming from... under a chair on the rug. Are they fleas? They have never bothered me (tried to get on me or bite me)... don't fleas do that? I have never seen anything like this. What is it? They are smaller than a flying termite, they are brown/tan with shiney tan wings. They fly around slow and are easy to swat. There are a few here and a few there... in every room in the house but I found an infestation under this chair and freaked out. I put some insect dust w/boron on the area. I would like to know what this is. I do have a cat that come in the house sometimes but I thought fleas bite and get on you... these don't.

They're not fleas ~ Fleas don't fly, they jump and are tiny compared to termites. Sounds like you may have winged ants. Post a picture so we can see what you are talking about.

They're probably ants....they swarm just like termites. This may be the last breeding season for them before the weather turns cooler.

Thank god they are not fleas but what the heck are they then and where the heck are they coming from? They are too small for a picture and even hard to see their body even when you have one close up. They fly like moths... slow. I don't think they are ants. They don't look like ants. They are very silvery looking with slender wings and slight body which is also silvery. Could this be what they call a silverfish? How do you send pictures on this thing. What steps do I take?

Go to Google Images and type in clothes moth and see if any of those pictures match what you're seeing.
