I think their bbq sauce (Rudy's) is very peppery. I'm not a huge fan of Rudy's, but I do love a peppery sauce. I wish they still sold their prime rib like they did back in the early days. It was melt-in-your-mouth good. Or maybe they've started back up again? I don't go out for bbq much. Unless it's Augie's.

RD, I agree with you, Rudy's isn't spicy at all. It isn't as sweet as some of the places I've been to (my favorite sauce is Sweet Baby Ray's), and Porky J's had a little bit more spice in it; definitely more than Rudy's. Still, it was pretty good.

However, saying it is better than Augies is another comment I cannot agree with. It is good, dang good; but it Augies was geographically closer it would get the nod (but just barely). Given that Porky J's is close and very good, and we'll frequent it often; but personally I have to give Augies the crown for the best Memphis-style BBQ in SA. Wait, my wife just said the same thing; so that's two votes.

Either way, anyone wanting great Memphis BBQ in the NW side of town has an easy choice! Dickie's had better hope that the word doesn't get out about Porky J's!

Cheers! M2
