There aren't many pedi ophthalmologists in SA. That's part of the reason....I never have to wait long at Dr. Zwann's office, but he's busy--I just get there the minute I'm supposed to since I never allow enough time for Med Ctr traffic. By the time I pull in on two wheels, park and grab the elevator, I'm right on time....but I've never had any problems whatsoever there.

I think it is so busy because he overschedules his appointments and because he is known as a bit of a "strabismus guy." And he IS just so darn nice and cute with the kids! LOL. I can't believe I am saying its worth your time to do it but if I got through it, you can.

Default My parents waited to do mine when I was older

I was born with strabismus & my family decided to waite. They didn't want to put me through surgeries that might not work nor risk Lord knows what! As soon as I turned 18 I had my strabismus fixed & now I'm 52 yrs old very happy they waited ! Mind u I had bad strabismus ... Any kind of Surgery on a child if it's not life threatening is so dangerous bcuz of the anesthesia & many other complications...listen it affects the parents more than the child take it from a strabismus child growing with it...

Wow, blast from the past. My son is now 22 and didn't need another eye surgery before turning 18. I'm sure Dr. Zwaan is retired by now. He was a fantastic doctor.
