Hi all.

From browsing through Craigslist, I noticed lots of Apartment locating services.

Anyone used them? How was it?

I also noticed that some of them offer free movers? Has anyone taken advantage of this? If so, how did it work out?

Thanks for the help!

I've used them....they're great! I've also used moveforfree.com and got the move-in specials and a mover, just by telling the apt. complex "who sent me". The free mover did charge extra for the washer/dryer and a big screen TV I had at the time, but otherwise it was truly free.

I highly recommend using them.

Are you looking to move? I thought you were happy with that place you are in now.

I'm happy where I am, however...

A. The apartment I have is 500sq feet, which, for 1 person, is great, but, now that the girlfriend finally moved, is a bit tight.

B. We would like to get a small dog, and, the deposit is crazy high here for that.

My lease is over in December, so, we are currently weighing our options

A couple of places I looked at ( online ) that appeared pretty good are The Dominion Park Apartments and Dove Valley Ranch in the Medical Center Area. Reviews of Dove Valley Ranch were quite negative, however. A place that is very cheap, and looked nice but had terrible reviews, is Promontory Pointe Apartments. They have a special of 780 for a 2 bedroom apartment ( > 1000 sq ft.)

If you have a car and can live farther out, the Westover Hill Area and Noth Central Area have many great looking complexes.

used apartment locators, but as anything, most are commision based. Thus, they'll try to place you where they'll make the money, not always in your best interest.

I used one two years ago and gave her my "range" of what i'd like to spend. I was innodated with e-mails about places waaaay out of my range + they weren't what I was looking for.

If I say i'm looking for a 1 bdrm, probably means i'm not looking for a 2....imagine that.

That's why moveforfree.com is better, IMO. YOU do the searching, and the website was usually very accurate in regards to floorplans, pet deposits, school districts, etc. I never actually spoke to a person with moveforfree until I was ready for a mover.
