My wife & I are going to have a special celebration. We would like to spend that special night on the riverwalk at a hotel that is pet friendly and moderately priced. Our budget is limited.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a hotel on or near the riverwalk.

We will also be taking our dog, Dejjers on a horse carriage ride.

Any other suggestions for a romantic night downtown San Antonio.

I really need our suggestions, for I am a klutz when it comes to things like this and I want to really surprise her.

Many thanks for your suggestions.

Here is a list of hotels that have a pet policy:

DogFriendly.com's City Guide: San Antonio, Texas

I use priceline.com to get good deals on hotels, the only thing if you name your price you can't choose your hotel. There are forums though that tell you what the probability of the hotel you will get, but I'm not going to go into detail about that. I would use that list as a starting point and go from there.

Looking through the list la quinta may be your best bet.

You have to look up the hotel on their website or call them. That website I linked above has a pretty good list. I've used it before when taking my dog on a trip.

Thank you for the link. Do you by any chance know the name of the hotel, it is not on the riverwalk but maybe a block south of the Transit near St. Mary's street, it looks old & well kept.

Emily Morgan? That's the only one I can think of, but I haven't been downtown in awhile

The hotel that use to be a jail is Comfort Inn Alamo/Riverwalk San Antonio

Not the Emily Morgan, they have a $75 pet fee there.

It is by the old Transit Tower or Smith Young Bldg, the most beautiful building in SA with the radio tower.

The hotel is like maybe only 2 or 3 stories high. It may be on South St. Mary's or an off street,

I will show my age by this... I remember back in 1965, my Mom used to work at Rubin's ClothingOutlet, it was at the corner of Flores & Houston, the former Buckhorn Saloon.

At times we would walk by the jail that was still operating on Camarron street. The prisoners would be whistling at us, I would always wonder why they would whistle. They were whistling at my Mom!
