It basically puts you in a lower tax bracket. You may get a third.

Depending on your income. If your income is high enough (which, IMO it would need to be to afford an expensive home like that) then it might not put you in a lower bracket, but just reduce your taxable income.

I second this comment ... a little too much of the church-going vibe for our taste, but I'm trying to not let it bug me.

Well, if you don't let it bug you, then I won't let the nonchurch-goers bug me. Deal?

TXRose, I'm sure SoCal transplant wouldn't bug you because good Christians don't judge others, so all's good, right?

Never said I was a non-church goer - actually attend quite regularly...but I'm a firm believer that too much of something isn't always good.

My point was that it shouldn't matter to anyone else whether or not they go to church. I think that if people, in general, spent less time trying to get others to believe or not believe one thing over another, and just let each other develop our own beliefs/values/morals without constantly trying to be convinced that we're wrong or stupid for thinking that way, that we'd be a much happier society.

Wow...I guess that we are not going to hear about the perfect weather and the just how AWFUL our thunderstorms are with news like this about the LA area today.....

A fire broke out in Griffith Park today above the Greek Theater and fire officials were trying to determine its size and source.

Large amounts of smoke were reported below the observatory about 1 p.m.

Authorities said the fire had burned 15 acres east of the Greek Theater near the Hollywood sign. Scores of firefighters from the L.A. city and county fire departments were fighting the blaze from the ground and air. No homes were threatened.

Elsewhere, firefighters were close to containing a brushfire in Yorba Linda and another one at Camp Pendleton.

The Griffith fire broke out as temperatures rose to near record-high levels and forecasters issued red flag warnings for much of the region in the wake of bone-dry conditions.

At noon, downtown Los Angeles was baking at 95 degrees, just short of the record 97 degrees reported in 1984, according to the National Weather Service. A late morning sea breeze brought some relief along the immediate coast but not before the temperature at Los Angeles International Airport hit 90 degrees at 11 a.m., according to weather specialist Stuart Seto.

It is sad, but just goes to show that we all have something to deal with no matter where we live...weather, fire, mudslides, earthquakes...no place is perfect. Heck, even HAWAII had hurricanes!!!
