Looking for a home to rent with acreage for my horses as well in the 281-Evans area to the Boerne area. Option for rent to own is also something we are looking at. Looking to move SOON. Thank you!

We will consider other areas in SA that are not too far from the area I originally stated. It does not HAVE to be a rent to own, we are looking at rental properties as well. Thanks!!

Why are you not calling a Realtor? They handle many rental properties. Try a Farm and Ranch Realtor at one of the larger local brokers. Kev Crawford can probably hook you up with someone!

Tried, Cat. A rental that'll accommodate horses is a rough find, if you're trying to keep it affordable. There are some outrageous ones, but if you want to be anywhere near town, it's a difficult find.

It seems like the OP may need to do this in a non-traditional marketing way. He's going to have to do the groundwork himself. Things like posting an ad in a small town newspaper, sending off personal hand written letters (or typed is fine) to land owners in his target area. Who doesn't want to make some extra income right now? I know there's something out there for you, you just have to work for it. It will take time.

I found my land by stopping at garage sales and fruit stands and talking to the owners themselves. Oh, make sure you buy something (an antique, fruit, etc) before asking about land. Nothing a farmer/rancher hates more than a city dweller coming into town and being "all hat, no cattle".

pw1061, IMO I think the farther you go out from San Antonio, the least expensive your prospects will be. Have you considered looking out Highway 16 around Pipe Creek?

If you take 1604 to Bandera Rd.(which is Highway 16), exit and take a right (provided you are coming from 281) you will go through the town of Helotes. Keep heading out of town and you will be driving towards Pipe Creek. I don't recall how many miles it is, but you may have better luck from Helotes out to the Hill country. If you google Pipe Creek, TX there will be links to real estate out there.
