I am relocating to SA in late May or early June. I want to rent an APT in Downtown/Alamo Heights.
My budget is around $600 w/o utilities. My priorities are close proximities to cultural locations, high speed internet connection, safety, and decent condition of the property.
Any suggestions? Any names of APT's would be appreciated. Thank you!

There may not be anything right downtown, but there are apartments in the Alamo Heights area in which a one bedroom would go for about $600.

Most of these apartments are small, with just a few units. I honestly don't know the names of most of them. You may want to try an apartment locator service.

Calcasieu Apartments downtown offer below 600 dollar rents.

They're right off Broadway and near Houston St. Prime location.

Thank you 210. I'll check it out. Are there any other areas in SA that are considered hip areas for young professionals? (i.e: close to restaurants, shops and etc?) Someone recommanded Med Center but I think bit of a way from where I want to be.

Try Southtown (King William District)...It's just south of downtown. Many young professionals live there and the majority of them are from out of state. When I used to live there I would hang with a guy from Hawaii, one from San Diego, another from Atlanta, blah blah blah I could go on and on. Rent is reasonable for a duplex-type place. Blue Star starts renting at about $700 I want to say. There's new apartment-type lofts off of Clay St./Probandt. They're owned by one of the owners of La Tuna. Go to La Tuna and inquire about them and you can usually see one of them the same day (that's if one's vacant).

Default calcacsieu apartments downtown

although very affordable. you must qualify to live there. low income required. unfortuantely they have let this place get run down. it's pretty bad. location is okay for those who work downtown but the place is pretty dirty so i'd def. take a look at it first. it needs a good makeover. fresh paint.
