Doesn't every historical road or point have some kind of gold legend? I'm sorry, but the only gold out there is probably the gold stolen from a poor conscript's tooth after being ripped out by a pistol packin' mama under orders of Pancho Villa.

Default Lockhill Selma road

I had a friend that lived on the property along that road back in the early 80's. There was a gate further down the road on the right hand side...had to drive down a very rough road to get to his parents trailer that was parked there next to an old 2 story barn. The old barn was located exactly where the gravel pit is now. They were renting the place out from some rancher that owned it...there were several hundred acres if I remember correctly. They rerouted Lockhill Selma road shortly after that and installed that gate you see now off of DeZavala. Had a lot of fun on that property.....and seen some strange things that I won't go into.

hey, txtea.... I remember how it was before they rerouted Lockhill Selma. I also know what happened back there on that property... the "strange things" you refer to.

I never understood why they moved the road, unless they just needed more room to widen it with additional lanes. Weird....

Default Old Locke Hill Selma Road

It was the Old Locke Hill Selma Road until the early 80's, I lived in Shavano Park and used it all the time. The road started there and went behind CVS and then reconnected on the current road around the power lines, the big power lines were not there at that time. It was a two lane road, but as you can see the road was moved next to CVS and widened/improved.

I grew up in the area too and I remember, a friend of my brother...his older brother was a student at clark and he was killed in car accident on Old Locke Hill, several other students were injured. If I remember correctly, I think they were drag racing and a deer ran out on the road. Anyway, I remember it closed shortly after that(I doubt that is the only reason, but may have had something to do with it).
This in the late 70's early 80's era when all the parents were up in arms about teenagers, drugs, drag racing and heavy metal.
It is odd that old lock hill is straight and the new one makes those big curves and doesnt follow the same path.
