So I see this photo in today's paper, a kid from San Antonio get his swine flu shot in the Woodlands, nice suburb of Houston.

Where/when are you getting your swine flu shot in San Antonio? Or are you going out of town to get yours?

Got the flu vaccine in September-----NEVER on the H1N1, don't trust it and I fall outside the "at risk" group.

I'm not getting one. I have limited contact in crowed public places. I carry hand sanitizer all the time, in the car, office, pocket. I never get the flu shot and definitly not the H1N1. I'll take my chances.

why do all of you think it's not safe... I'm not being critical but just wonder if my thinking is off, because I am getting one.

not enough is really known about the disease, so why put it in you?
look at it this way, it's kind of a norm not to buy the 1st year production model of a new car because historically something always goes wrong with the 1st run.

a car is one thing, but would you want something to go wrong in your body???

I'm not asking if folks here are wanting to get the swine flu shot, I'm asking those who are getting the shot as to where they are going to get the shot. Isn't the vaccine available in San Antonio now?

I must respectfully disagree. Plenty is known about the disease. It's a variant of the "normal" seasonal flu. It operates in much the same way, contains the same "bad things" and is neutralized using a vaccine made from the exact same process as the flu shot we've all come to know and love. I'm not an advocate for the shot, nor do I say that you shouldn't get it. (It's a personal decision, after all.)

However, comparing a "first edition flu shot" to that of a "1st year production model" of a car is a stretch. It is your body--do a lot of research before putting anything into it.

I'll have my kids get them when they're offered at their schools. Mrs. Bowie and I will stick with the seasonal flu shot unless there is a low-hassle way to get the H1N1 shot.

We usually get the seasonal shots at Texas Med Clinic on a weekday evening when things are slow there.
