I go to Clark High School occaisionally...is there anywhere pretty to walk?

There's a great new park (maybe like 2 years old) right down the way past Clark on the other side of the Woods of Shavano side of the railroad tracks. I've never been there, but it looks amazing.

Another great place is a a park is where De Zavala turns in to Babcock near Oxbow and the new Elementary school (can't think of the name of the school even though I drive past it all the time). I see people walking their dogs, running, walking, ridding their bikes all the time.

Also consider the short drive to Fredrick Park near Babcock and 1604. It's more hiking than anything, but it's a little piece of paradise in another otherwise suburban oasis.

I also know a lot of people go to UTHSC to walk. I've heard they have a track. Never been, but heard good things.

I belong to a meetup.com group called "Walking Buddies"-they're dog-friendly, so if that bothers you, sorry! This is the lastest e-mail I got about a walk at Eisenhower Park....

I love this park. There is a bit of variety in terrain and in difficulty. Let's meet at the benches by the bathrooms. We can do either the Cedarflats trail which is paved or the Yucca trail which is a mix of paved and mulched trail.
Cedar Flats is a misnomer at the trail reaches an elevation of 1250 feet above sea level. Saving grace is it is paved and lots of benches along the way. Total distance is 1.8 mles.
Yucca has a more minimal incline only getting to 1200 feet above sea level. It crosses Cedarflats and becomes more difficult but if we chose this one we'll skip that section and either return the same way or down Cedar Flats. Should be able to cover a similar distance. No benches but more shade.
Park is dog friendly so feel free to bring your furry friend. Cedar Flats is stroller friendly.

Eisenhower is located at the end of NW Military Hwy.

No, dogs are not a problem; in fact I wish I had a dog to walk with.

I am also a member of the "Walking Buddies" but there hasn't been a lot of "buddies" to walk with.

The times are not good for me. I always mean to get to one....but something comes up. I like to just open my front door and walk my neighborhood anyway. I get my heart rate up just trying to NOT GET RUN OVER!!! It's a fun-filled neighborhood.

Re the dog: there was one up for adoption on here that was a real cutie.
