Call or email the shop. You don't have to specifically talk with Alan, but he does answer the emails whereas usually you'll get someone else on the phone. They found a hard-to-find Springfield 1911 I was looking for a while back, and still gave me a great price on it. I was so grateful that I bought another SA 1911 from them the same day. That day still holds the record for the most I've spend on guns in a single 24-hour period...

I may drop by there again tomorrow, the guys at General Firearms forgot to bring some parts I needed but said they'd have them tomorrow. I haven't washed the top of my right hand all day, hoping the stamp is still there in the morning and I can get back in for free!

Cheers! M2

Okay - we'll meet at the restaurant in the morning, or at the front door at 10 am....

I'll probably be more in the market next month as far as finances, plus it'll probably take at least a month to convince my wife that there is nothing wrong with 6 guns in the house.. I'll just show her another picture of MMM's "kids" to remind her it could be much worse

I used their contact thing on the webpage. They have an online shop now, but the prices are insanely high. About $100 more than average for guns and about double the normal price for ammo. Hopefully dealing with them personally can reduce those numbers..

Has anyone ever bought from Alamo Ammo? Alamo Ammo - Rifle, Shotgun, Handgun Ammunition

It's up in Castle Hills. I need some SD ammo in 9mm and .40, but the shipping from online is crazy.

I see where it says they are "located at 2132 NW Military, San Antonio, in the Universal Square Shopping Center next to Bank of America," but do they have a storefront? I am pretty sure I saw these guys at last weekend's gun show...

Their prices aren't too bad but you can do better online even with shipping. Heck, on their 7.62x39 even Academy is cheaper, if I recall correctly.

Ask "the other RD" (the one you bought your "toy" from) as he tracks the best online ammo deals pretty well. Or you could try Ammunition Deals or AmmoEngine.

Cheers! M2

I haven't found any shipping for under $12 and I only want less than $50 in ammo, so that's a pretty huge chunk of change and I'd have to wait until who knows when to get it They all ship ups and they are slower than my grandma.
I may just check out Powderhorn first and see what they have. Academy and wallyworld need to start carrying more SD stuff instead of just range ammo.

Have you checked the BXtra? They've got a small selection of SD ammo now...their prices aren't the greatest, but I am still happy to see them carrying it!

Did you get by Alamo Ammo? I see they have Ukranian 7.62x54R in the tin can (440 ct) for $105, which isn't cheap but once you include shipping for the 25 lb package it might just be easier to buy straight from them...

Cheers! M2

I ended up going to Powderhorn since I was (sorta) in that neighborhood. They had 115 gr Speer Gold Dots 20 for $25. Definitely wasn't looking to spend that much, but I need something in the G19 besides target ammo. That could make a serious mess if I actually needed it for anything SD related. I stopped by Ho Guns after that (should've done it before) and checked out that place for the first time. I have stopped by a couple times before, but they were either closed or Culebra was just too much of a cluster. They really REALLY need to finish that road already. The guy was pretty nice and had the same ammo for the same price. His shop is not busy at all, though, and the Powderhorn parking lot was almost full. He knows one of our coworkers and said he has bought a couple Kimbers off him. He also talked me out of looking at a Colt and suggested a Springfield as well.
