Any good places you might recommend other than the big-box stores? We've done that every year for the past 7 years and they've all been fire hazards within a week. I think we'll be doing a fake one next year!

I'd love information about this also. We were thinking of trying Devine Acres, DevineAcres, but I'm not sure on their quality of trees, etc. Any information would be great.

There's a set up for trees in the Crossroads Mall parking lot behind Target. It's there every year and sells fresh trees. I don't know when they open. I am sure they will be there again this year. check out the site and see when they open for business.

Thanks ShaneSA, we might look there this weekend. Any other ideas? We were hoping to buy our tree this weekend but don't want to if it will be dead in only a few days.

I've always enjoyed, and your kids probably will too. Just a short drive outside 1604, just north of Helotes on Hwy 16, is "Pipe Creek Christmas Tree Farm" The prices are good,
PRICES
CHOOSE & CUT TREES IN THE FIELD (Afghan pine & Leyland cypress)
$5.75 per foot MINIMUM $20.00
and you get to walk thru several acres of "Farm Christmas trees" They give you a bowsaw, and you can pick and cut your own. Nice family day and memorable experience. Link is below.

Pipe Creek Christmas Tree Farm

Hayrides on weekends (weather permitting).

Bring your camera and take pictures of family and friends with the cut out of Santa and Mrs. Claus with the children's faces as ornaments.

We furnish saws and measuring poles.

After you cut your tree, we shake the loose needles from the tree, wrap the tree in netting, and furnish cord to tie your farm grown Real tree onto your vehicle.

How fun! Thank you for posting that link. We might give that a try this year. Have you trees lasted from there for a few weeks or until Christmas? I know my kids would love finding a tree in a field like that! Thank you for sharing.

Yes, we've bought one the weekend after Thanksgiving, and they last 6 to 8 weeks with a little water in the stand. These are alive when you cut them, not like at the box stands, where they have been dying for weeks already.
