I recenctly heard that you will void the warranty of your windows if you put any film directly on it. There have been instances where the excessive heat absorbtion causes the glass to crack. The folks that came out and gave me a quote didn't mention this.

I ran into another product that is a screen that attaches to the outside of your window. Works much more effectively than film, and is much, much cheaper.

Thanks, Latino COwboy for that information! I chose to go with Bidget Blinds and have been vey pleased with our customer service thus far. Hope we are just as happy with the product! Ha! She did talk to me about the possiblity of placing tinting on the upper windows. I bet she doesn't know about the warranty issue. Thanks! We did a walk-thru today; it looks great! Did place a few green stickers around but nothing major. Did you hire an independent inspector? We are considering it; just wanted to know your opinion since we built with the same company. Moving to AR on the 20th!

I am starting my search for a shutter/blinds company. Do Budget Blinds and Affordable Blinds do free installation? The previous company I used here in Austin offered free installation and measuring and that was a big selling point.

thanks!

Budget does free install. They also came out and put up temporaries until mine were made. I went with compsite vs. real wood on most windows and it looks great. I did have to buy real wood on my French doors due to the cutouts for the handles. Linda has been really good to work with!
