Malone, is the Medina Lake area on the North side of SA or West side of SA?

Medina Lake is in far Northwest San Antonio. You would take Culebra road north of 1604 to get out there.

Default Thanks Latinocowboy!

Thanks Latinocowboy! Pics really help. Could you tell me where Cayon Lake is on this map? I am wondering which is closer to SA Medina Lake or Canyon Lake?

Thanks,

jjuranko

Thanks Latino Cowboy! Canyon Lake looks a lot further away than Medina Lake to SA. I noticed through your other post's that you have been looking for homes. Are you from SA or are you from out of town checking things out? I will being taking a camping/surveying trip in June and would love to get some tips on areas to look at. It seems we have similar likes and dislikes.

Thanks,

jjuranko

You might consider Bandera, a pleasant town, if not a city. A bit bigger, and with a good hospital, is Kerrville to the n.w. of there; it's an easy shot on the roads between them. Kerrville is quite reasonable, has a few amenities, good entertainment if you like live music, pleasant restaurants along the river and nice parks. It is touted as a retirement community, but has a young side to it, too. I lived at Lakehills and it's o.k. but just a bedroom community.

Medina Lake is not in San Antonio. It's at Lakehills, about 15 miles to the N.W. of San Antonio. From San Antonio, you get on the outer ring road, (1604) and take it to 471, which is between 16 (to the n.) and 1957 (to the s.) You take the right hand junction onto 1283 and it'll lead you to the village. The lake's on it's far end, past the few shops and post office. It is pretty up there, but be careful on the roads.

No you will not need a truck. It is not that backwoods, LOL. You just have to check it out and make your decision. I love it and would not trade it to live in San Antonio for all the money in the world. I think what most people have a problem with is the drive to San Antonio, it is only 25 minutes or so but most people are used to having a grocery store right around the corner. I grew up at Medina Lake and I am used to driving lots of miles to anywhere. I used to ride the school bus 22 miles to Bandera to go to school so I guess I'm just used to driving far.

It really depends on what you are looking for. Medina Lake is not a rich lake like Canyon Lake or Lake Conroe. You will not see a lot of big mansions on the shores of Medina Lake. But I kinda like it that way.
