Scorpions glow under ultra violet light. They also do not like water. Drought conditions of last summer probably brought some closer to the house because of water restrictions.

I know I posted this somewhere in another thread, sorry for the repeat. We have friends with a ranch down around Cotulla. It's very hot and dry in that area. When rain does blow through, scorpions will come out of the ground and climb up the trunks of trees and shrubs. The ranch hands get out there with black lights and catch them. They actually have swap meets and sell them down there.

I'm sure there is a scorpion encased in plastic somewhere dangling on a key chain with my name on it!

Try this video....not for the faint of heart. Keep in mind, this is a PET, this is NOT what people find in their homes in San Antonio. Ugh! It's kind of freaky to see them glowing.

That's one of those "God" questions for that book. "God, why did you make psychedelic scorpions?" seriously.....why???

I'm not going to speak for a Higher power, but my guess would be "Because it's cooler to get stung by something that glows rather than something that does not glow".
