Taqueria Vallarta on Broadway just south of 410, former Whataburger. They even have a drive-thru.

Abels' Diner on IH 35 and FM 3009. Not Mexican food, but great comfort food.

I'm a little late to the party.... :/

I ate at the Tip Top 2 weeks ago (And let me add I've been eating there for over 20 years). It was AWFUL. The food had no flavor, nothing like I remembered. And, they changed their gravy

If you're interested in making a nice weekend trip, check out Billy Kay's Texas Grille in Bandera. It's about 40 minutes from San Antonio.

They have de-lic-ious burgers! And, great Mexican Food. Pretty much everything is homemade. And, they only have 5 tables!

Romo's Cafe.. in the strip mall next to the CVS, Culebra and Ingram. Youd bever expect this kinda place in ths part of town. Extremely high quality, "Top Chef" kinda food, friendly staff (kinda a regular now, the chef always comes out and says "hi"). Very reasonable prices. Limited regular menu which is all good stuff, but the daily specials are always changing and stuff you'd only expect to find downtown or the swankier burbs.
Wouldnt never known it was there, or rather thought it was maybe a pizza and pasta joint or whatever till we got a menu put on our door, living very nearby. Search em on Facebook to see pics and descriptions of some of their food.. trust me, it's an experience.

10-20 depending on the exoticness of the ingredients. We had Sunday brunch there for the first time this weekend.. wifey had the most outstanding eggs benedict and I had eggs scrambled with potatoes with cheese and truffle salt! with a very tender steak, and pomegranate mimosas. $35
Next time I wanna try the biscuits with duck confit gravy.

sounds like this 'hole in the wall' would have valet parking .
the legal kind, not the unwittingly kind .

Wow. Scrambled eggs with potatoes. Fancy.

I'd stay away from their duck confit, too. That's basically just duck jerky and they have served it to me with pieces of bone mixed in.

There seems to be no middle ground at that place. It's either great or a complete dud.
