I absolutely LOVE the little hole-in-the-wall restaurants! They usually have the best food, and the best services and prices as well.ABSOLUTE BEST Shrimp Cocktail! Actually, everything I've eaten there is good. And they are very affordable.OUT OF THIS WORLD ! And they have WONDERFUL lemonade too!

I'd consider Augie's Barb Wire BBQ to be a "hole in the wall" due to how it's squeezed into its location by the zoo. As such, it would have to suffice as my favorite HitW until I try the British Tea House on Bandera Road (another one that's squeezed into its location) and Lord's Kitchen (stuffed under an overpass and bordered by train tracks.

I love the food at Taqueria Chapala Jalisco on McCullough. I eat there few times a week. They know my likeness and prepare my orders exactly the way I like. From time to time they serve me something out of the menu - whatever the cook cooks for the staff. Always great! I never go there while is real busy, because I want peace and quiet when I relax and read my book. A great way to take a break from work.

Tacqueria Chapala is fantastic. Awesome breakfast & tacos.
Lien Hung on Remount for Vietnamese. El Molino de Luz on Potranco for brisket tacos. B&G on Mayfield for tamales. Mr. & Mrs. Gs' for everything.

To me a "hole in the wall" is a tiny place, often hard to even recoginze as a restaurant, to others it can be any small-mid sized inexpensive non-chain restaurant.

Martha's at Huebner and Babcock, across the street from HEB. They started out in a trailer up Huebner Rd. closer to I-10 across from the Bluebonnet Ranch back in the day (70s and 80s). Since then, the food has not changed in flavor a bit. If you like enchiladas, this is the place to visit. It's very inexpensive. Chips and fresh Salsa rock. I have never had a bad plate since I first visited the restaurant in 1979.
