There were drive ins in a lot of the small towns near SA, too. New Braunfels had the Tower Drive In, Hondo had the Hondo Drive In, Devine had the Medina Valley DI, Fredericksburg ahd the 87 Drive In, Johnson City had the Joy DI, Pearsall had the Hub DI, later renamed the New Moonlighter DI, San Marcos had a couple of drive ins, and I am sure I have forgotten some, but these, in addition to the before mentioned Dixie Drive In in Seguin, I either attended, worked, or serviced the equipment.

My dad was the manager of the Trail Drive-In during 55-58 I believe. I still have a picture of him standing in front of the theater next to a real live lion. That picture was part of a promotion for a movie. I am going to look for that picture again, it may have the movie on it. The theater was own by a man with the last name of Landsman. My sister and I would ride our tricycles up and down the small risers where the cars would park so they would tilt up to better see the movie. I remember the popcorn, the John Wayne movies and peeking out the side of the car windows to see what was going on in the cars next to us much to mother's unapproval.

I remember seeing "The Time Machine" back in the 60s at the Trail. My parents had a station wagon with all of us 6 kids eating hot dogs and hamburglars made at home. We always bought drive-in popcorn. Some of us would sit by the concession stand on the benchces with speakers facing you. Those were the days.
