Oh yeah as mentioned just driving down St. Marys in the direction I previously mentioned as a long time local and you just know the right side is nice and rich especially the houses behind and to the left (I asked my wife what was on the right and left, she said King William is on the right and to the left is the ghetto, I told her Lavaca was changing now).

I did disagree with most of Mr. Bragg's article especially about selling out and going to the burbs since I know how much some of you care for and make Bonham special.

It did make me think though and I was like wow some of you guys might leave SA but for another reason, a better position comes along, so for professional reasons. And even if it was true, worst-case-scenario, those Southtowners left a swell gift in the cleaning up of the river all the way down past Military Dr. A place I used to visit with my family as a child but felt too afraid to go for a long time until recent.

If I am wrong then good for us since I am sure more positive change will radiate from Southtown into the Southside and Downtown (which I'd like to see fully revived).

I understand that Southtown v. Lavaca would not make sense but she never said that.

She said (Southtown and Lavaca) vs King William.

Review the original quote at your leisure.

I also doubt any rivalry since old money has no need to compete and her claim that the neighborhoods steal residents from each other but she even herself admits that was anecdotal.

Bragg's argument was unrelated to yours, as he claims there are no children and in effect, no community.
Again, "One would hope for some better reading comprehension."

This was post #68. You are stating the obvious as if I was unaware of my own opinion but I already said as much in post #67 right before you posted.

It most likely will.

She made some vastly uninformed comments.

Quote:
For those that missed it, Roy began with something of a mea culpa. Apparently, many years ago, he was skeptical that Southtown – the historic neighborhoods of King William and Lavaca, just south of downtown – would never escape its “dodgy” reputation. (It must have been quite a while ago; I moved into Southtown in 2003 and the place had clearly been a “livable neighborhood” for some time.)
Living Proof: Southtown Lousy With Kids | The Rivard Report

King William has been a livable neighborhood since before most of us were even born. We have always thought it was a great and good neighborhood.

Of course Bragg never said King William was dodgy in his article.

Again we have someone confusing King William for Southtown, they are not the same, at least for now, and I doubt they ever will be. Neighbors, yes.

Then she makes a comment regarding how someone wrote an e-mail to Mr. Bragg about Southtowners not jumping ship to the suburbs but have already chosen a return to liveable neighborhoods.

(This is a good idea and more suburbanites should consider it.)

She also makes the point that instead of worrying that they will jump ship to the another cool area that there is space for other "Southtowns" on the North, East, and West sides of town. Unsure who she thinks is worrying about that anyway?

Funny some of us in the South side do not want to make a return to liveable neighborhoods but instead simply make our already existing neighborhoods liveable again without having to move. Of course she as a typical Southowner and has not interest in seeing our side of town prosper. Fortunately it is changing for the better and becoming more liveable.

She even ignores mentioning the South side in her little equation as if there is no place down here for improvement. Hopefully that will change even further as it already has been especially if a mixed-used development is built at the site of the old Mission Drive-in which would include residential units. And hopefully there will be more such sustainable and liveable developments for the already existing citizens in this side of town which obviously failed to register with her.
