I'm looking to have a chair reupholstered and do not want to go to Moderator cut: shop name due to their sketchy reputation. Can anyone recommend a good upholsterer and if you've had work done with them what was it and how much did it cost you.
Thanks!

My mother used Arrow Upholstery a few years ago, and was very satisfied. They did beautiful work on an antique piece of furniture. Arrow Upholstery Co. - , - Welcome

Anyone recall the Paul Thompson/Arrow Upholstery blood feud? Now there was a man with integrity. The Express-News tried their best to get him to back off, but then up would come yet another story of some elderly widow being bilked out of a few grand for having her couch redone w/matching drapes.

ahhh... I remember the days when we had a real paper here.

To get back to the question, I'd like to add an inquiry for having outside cushions redone. I've been quoted $25 per cushion (large), including the price of the umbrella cloth. That was from someone out in Comfort.

Good company. I've dealt with them before, but weren't aware they did upholstery. They must send it off site unless they've expanded.

While they do nice work they aren't the cheapest. For a lasting powder coat I'd go with them. But, it'd be nice to just find someone who'd take my umbrella cloth and sew me some covers, on the cheeeeep.

Thanks for bringing them to mind. It's certainly worth a call and they're nice people as well. I still owe them for handing me a bunch of the nylon ends used on metal furniture for free.

Rapscallion: I cannot find any other company. What you can do is maybe check with the regular upholstery places; maybe they do not advertise outdoor furniture because they think upholstery is upholstery? Is all about the right fabric, the work is pretty much the same, I think – no?

Almost any upholstery company will do interior and exterior furniture upholstering.

Rapscallion....$25 for a large cushion each is a very good price. Have you seen their work or have references?

Upon reflection, I recall our discussing the price of umbrella cloth and how it rose in the summertime, so I'm figuring that I was wrong and the $25 was for labor apart from materials. This was early last year.

I've seen both a sample, as well as images of his work. I *guess* it was ok? He specializes in working in leathers. Apparently he gets a lot of play in the hill country for redoing chairs in suede and leather, as well as making these huge leather monstrosities as headboards. So, while I've seen some impressively detailed work, it's not exactly in a style I can *cough* appreciate.

I've been digging around for his card, but can't find it. I know an antique dealer who knows him, so I can get his name again. It looks like he's who I'll be using to get them recovered this year.
