Couldn't disagree more JV. While Rudy's isn't some pinnacle of the best BBQ around, it is decent at least. Bill Miller's doesn't come within a country mile of it. BM is some of the worst excuse for BBQ I've ever had frankly. When I say that I'm amazed that there are so many BM around, I don't mean it facetiously nor am I exaggerating. It is astonishing to me that one location serving food like that can stay open, let alone have multiple locations.

if anyone drives up and down bandera outside the loop, how is the Raising Canes on bandera and huebner coming along?

The Big Bib beats Augie's even. Try it. Super cool owners and they let you, nay, insist that you sample. I wish I'd discovered it well before I moved away....it was thanks to yelp when I was back for a visit that I even found it in the first place.

The Big Bib sounds promising from the online reviews. I do love that a lot of suggestions for the best BBQ in San Antonio begin with, "first, get on the highway and drive outside of town."

Rudy's has good smoked turkey, I'll give them that. Their ribs are salty and dry, their magical corn is just a block of cream cheese dumped into canned corn, and they give you the cheapest bread possible. I bought some $13.99 meal for two last month and the woman at the register hollered at the meat guys that the portion they gave us was too generous and she pulled half the meat back out and threw it on the cutting board. Heaven forbid we got an extra slice of brisket.

At least Bill Miller's has decent bread.

Too generous? I have been to Rudy's many times. From my memory they weigh the meat at the register. So...if the cutters gave you too much meat, then you would pay too much. Sounds like the lady at the register was trying to charge you for what you asked. Maybe you should have said "you know what, I will pay for that extra slice of brisket".
