Is San Antonio a good city to live in? Also, how are the schools? I am a teacher looking for a good area to teach in.

San Antonio is wonderful; I've been here 21 years! Cost of living is great, the city's beautiful, in general I like the weather but some people don't like summers.

I taught high school mathematics at a private school for 11 years. For public school, you'll need a Texas teacher certification (public school teachers out there, correct me if I'm wrong). There are plenty of great schools and areas, but obviously everyone wants to teach there; I don't know how the hiring process works for public schools.

Scroll down until you see the flashing colors...good luck!

Many people love it here, and central Texas is one of the fastest growing areas in the country so there has to be something to it!

We love San Antonio, the town, it's residents, most everything about it. We consider ourselves lucky to end up here when I retired from the military as it was our favorite Stateside assignment during my career. I made a distinct effort to come back to SA for my final tour.

As for schools, NISD and NEISD are considered two of the best. If you search this forum, you will find several threads on teaching and teaching jobs here.

By the way, I am a Florida "transplant," having spent much of my teenage years in Jax and graduating from UF in Gainesville. I prefer it here...less humidity, no hurricanes and not as crowded. I miss the beaches and surfing, but we do have the Gulf Coast not too far away. It's isn't the same as the First Coast, but it's still nice in parts.

Cheers! M2

Thank you all for the great advice! My brother lives in Fort Worth and he just loves it there. I love this forum because you get so much input from others before making decisions.
