Does anyone know where I can buy Kerosene on the NW side of town (or anywhere)

I'd really rather just pump it, as the $45 5 gallon containers are pretty crazily priced.

I'm considering buying a 20 gallon parts washer, so I'll need about 13 gallons of Kerosene.

I think you need to do a little more research. I am not sure of your exact applications in using the parts washer...but you should be using a Parts washer Solvent...not kerosene. Most of this stuff is enzyme based similar to simple green. Even simple green would be better than kerosene. BTW Kerosene evaporates too!

Check around for Stoddard solvent. It's less flamable and is a great degreaser and carbon cutter. I think they make a non flamable type stoddard solvent also but it doesn't work very well.

No, I am not using an aqueous parts washer, I am using a solvent parts washer.

Simple Green eats aluminium, so it would not be better than kerosene.

I do appreciate you telling me I need to do more research though.

Thanks for the suggestion, SnappyBob, but the cost of Stoddard (very similar to odorless mineral spirits) keeps me from it.

Kerosene has a higher flashpoint than Stoddard does, though it does have a slightly lower autoignition temperature.

Locally I would check Northeren Took or Harbor Freight....or Alamo Iron Works...sells that type of stuff in their store.

You could have Safety Clean
  • Replenish the parts washer machine with fresh solutions on a service schedule.
  • Collect and dispose the used solutions, in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.
