Need either free or cheap - used is fine. Anyone know which area stores will give them away?

Look on craigslist in the "free" section.

Liquor stores - HEB is another good source. One thing though - free boxes are cool, but I learned the hard way that they can cost you more in the long run simply because the sizes are so varied that you end up with a mess trying to stack a bunch of 'em in a tight area w/o a lot of gaps. There's a packing supply company over off of Sentinel Drive - it runs parellel to Wetmore Road, off of Broadway (1 block east of the Broadway/Wetmore intersection). It's on the left hand side, but I don't recall their name off hand. Last time we moved, I bought (literally) about a mile of bubble wrap from 'em to wrap antiques, lamps, crystal, etc with - and it was SO much cheaper than any of the regular retail outlets I can't begin to tell ya!!! IIRC, I paid less per roll than what I could buy a couple of packs of it at Walmart for!!!

We're moving soon and someone suggested I go to the UHaul place on San Pedro and... Basse, I think? Apparently they just have a stack of boxes that people turn in after moving and they're there for the taking.

Try a busy storage unit. I receive shipments all the time and toss perfectly good, large boxes in the dumpster along with many of the other tenants there.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Craig's List hadn't even occurred to me. Grabbed what I'll need over my lunch break.
